History Repeats Itself

Dear Reader,

I know the phrase “history repeats itself when we do not learn from it” is commonly used in terms of wars and tragedy.

But what if you applied it to yourself?

History repeats itself

when we do not learn from it

So I didn’t put you on a shelf

attempting to forget all of it

studying our pages by myself

trying to grow from the pain of it

so many green flags but was I in denial

I asked you if you still loved me

you just sat back and smiled

I read through the pages

once believed to be a fairy tale

but how badly did it age

eventually we witnessed it fail

I analyse our damaged file

for my future selves benefit

because history repeats itself

when we do not learn from it
