Hostel Life
Dear Reader,
When I was planning this trip by myself I was looking at staying in a hotel. Simply because it’s safe and comfortable. But every day I am reminded that that is not the life I want to live. I want there to be risk and unfamiliarity. Something to force me to learn more and be more.
So I decided that I would stay at a hostel even tho it felt completely terrifying, to stay in a room with strangers. But the past 3 days have been the most enjoyable, I have become friends with young adults from all over the world; solo travellers, European spring break uni friend groups, gap year travellers, etc. I have learnt about different cultures, languages and traditions that you only get by putting yourself out there and meeting people.
3 days in and we’ve already made plans to go to Finland in summer and see different musicians perform all over Europe. I can’t wait to make more friends and plans over the next few days here.
I tell you this to encourage you to step out of the safety and comfort you have placed around yourself and watch how you can grow into an even better version of yourself.
All my love,
Kaila 💌
