Juggling & Backflips
Dear Reader,
The main thing I have been learning in the past few weeks is my limiting beliefs - a state of mind or belief about yourself that restricts you in some way. Almost all your limiting beliefs are stories you were told or created about yourself that stop you from achieving your full potential. I am finding mine by being aware of my thoughts when I attempt something new, for example: I can’t do that because my body’s not strong enough, I’m not smart enough, I just can’t do that. These thoughts are subconsciously stopping me from doing the things I want.
I want to be the best version of myself and to stop getting in my way so I am now choosing to actively make new beliefs about myself and the things I am capable of achieving.
There is a theory that states if you can learn how to juggle you can learn how to do anything. Juggling just proves to yourself that one day you didn’t have that skill and in a few days you do. So in 3 days, I taught myself to juggle 3 juggling balls. With that, I released the limiting belief that I am too old to learn a new skill and welcomed the new belief that I am capable of learning new skills.
I want to continue to replace limiting beliefs with new empowering beliefs. One I have noticed restricts me daily is ‘my body can’t do that’. To change this I have been doing little training sessions every day making me feel so much more comfortable and strong in my body. This week’s goal is to complete a proper backflip into the ocean. Last Friday I started by mentally making the belief, “I can do a backflip” and each day I have been learning and pushing myself. I have completed a few now but I still have some work to do to replace the limiting belief and receive the new belief that my body is strong and capable of learning new, exciting skills.
I hope you can start taking notice of your thoughts and see what limiting beliefs you can exchange for empowering beliefs.
